Ill Mind of Hopsin 4 was a fucking great song, but the diss to Tyler The Creator was always the one thing that sorta took away from it. It’s not nearly as bad as it was on the last track, but it is noticeable. The beat is real simple, but Tyler sounds great over it. This song opens with the same vocal sample as Numbers On The Boards by Pusha T. I get that it’s supposed to be loud and capture your attention, but it just gets old after a while. The beat kinda switched up at the end for the bridge. Sounds like a 90 year old smoker who got they voice pitch shifted up. “YEEEEAAAAAAHHH YEEAAH YEAH YEAH.” It’s obviously not meant to sound very serious. There’s some terrible singing in the background. The beat gets kind of annoying after about 30 seconds. Tyler’s delivery and flow are nice, but it sounds like his vocals aren’t loud enough. Ace The Creator is the name that Tyler goes by as a producer. Every song on the project is produced by Ace The Creator by the way. I’m just gonna go ahead and start listening. Those probably aren’t gonna be… Well, I guess I shouldn’t judge a song by it’s title. There’s also a song called The Brown Stains of Darkeese Latifah. Even when the subject matter is good, he tends to have an immature view on things. I feel like Tyler The Creator could be a really great rapper, but the topics he chooses to speak about usually aren’t that good. The response that Tyler’s been getting from this project seems to be pretty mixed. He did a much better job with that lo-fi sound on Wolf. On Goblin, a lot of the beats just sounded really trashy. His production skills (as Ace The Creator) usually have a blatant increase in quality with each release, so I’m expecting the beats to be good. I didn’t listen to all of Bastard or Goblin. I don’t think any of his albums are wack so far, but none of them are really amazing. I don’t think he’s wack now or anything, but he just isn’t as good as a lot of other rappers. Tyler The Creator used to be one of my favorite rappers (I have no idea why tbh), but he honestly isn’t anymore. This album came out seven days ago (April 17).
